Hygiena's AllerSnap is an instant surface contamination detection kit. Using AllerSnap and an incubator, you can detect protein residues on surfaces within 15 - 30 minutes and re-clean them or take any other necessary action.

The AllerSnap testing kit gives you a qualitative and semi-quantitative result of contamination based on the change in color. Green means the surface is clean and purple means it is contaminated and needs to be cleaned again. The more protein contamination is present on the surface, the faster the AllerSnap changes color and the darker the purple will appear.

The Hygiena AllerSnap testing kit is ideal for:

  • Doctor's offices
  • Hospitals
  • Dentist's offices
  • Cruise ships
  • Fitness facilities
  • Hotels and motels
  • Spas and pools
  • Water plants
  • Bakeries
  • Restaurants
  • Food manufacturing plants
  • Any place where contamination is a concern

Directions for Use:

You will need: An AllerSnap instant testing device, An incubator capable of incubating at 37 or 55 degrees Celsius, A timer.

  • Allow the AllerSnap testing device to come to room temperature.
  • Write the location on the collection device in permanent marker.
  • Twist and pull the swab out of the tube of the collection device.
  • Swab a 4 inch x 4 inch area working horizontally (left to right) and then swab the same area again working vertically (up and down) so that you've swabbed it twice over. Make sure to swab with even coverage. If swabbing an uneven surface, keep the swabbing technique consistent and swab an area that is approximate with 4 x 4 inches.
  • The swab should bend while collecting the sample to ensure enough pressure is being applied during swabbing.
  • Do not touch the shaft of the swab while collecting, as this will contaminate the test. Hold it only by the end opposite the swab.
  • Make sure to rotate the swab while collecting.
  • Insert the swab back into the tube of the collection device and make sure it is sealed.
  • Holding the collection device in your fist, use your thumb to break the Snap Valve by bending it forward and then use your finger to bend it back to ensure it is completely broken.
  • Squeeze the bulb of the Snap Valve twice to ensure all the liquid inside goes into the tube.
  • Gently squeeze the swab end of the tube twice and then gently shake the entire tube for five seconds so the sample mixes with the liquid.
  • Incubate the testing device tube for 15 minutes at 55 degrees Celsius or 30 minutes at 37 degrees Celsius
  • Set a timer for the allotted time.
  • After the allotted time, compare the testing device tube to the color chart.
  • Interpreting Results:
  • - No potential contaminants: The liquid will be green
  • - Potential contaminants: The liquid will be purple
